Hey, so I know it’s been forever since I last wrote to you.
I’ve been fighting the kind of battles that no one sees. The head trash that’s piled up after years of sweeping stuff under the mental carpet, and it almost got the better of me... Almost...
Because I’m super chuffed (and part terrified) to tell you I’ve recorded and edited the first course in marketing psychology for authors.
Originally, my plan was to create a big hefty course with several modules and sell it for the price of a small car…
But I’ve been reflecting on how I consume
courses, and how other people in the indie space structure and sell their courses, and I want to do it differently.
So, I’m creating a bunch of smaller, easily digestible courses so that people can pick and choose the aspects of marketing they want to go deeper on. Stuff thats relevant to where ever you’re at in your indie author journey.
I hate it when you buy a really expensive course and only half of it is relevant, or it’s so big you don’t consume it all - which defeats to object of buying the course - or you enthusiastically watch all the videos, but don’t take action because you’re overloaded with info.
I’ve bought courses where the videos are two hours long. The
first and last half hour was usually waffle or Q&A. Who’s got time for that? How does that help?
All of that to say that my first course about positioning books is almost ready. Plus, it’s waffle free, direct and to the point, with zero BS.
It’s called Reading the Market, and it’s about understanding your market so you can
position your book better (to stand out more).
When you know the audience, you can tailor the messaging (the language) use in your advertising more effectively.
➡️ If you’ve ever wondered why
romance authors have to advertise using a different strategy... we're talking trope maps, story based ads, cooking recipes etc.
➡️ If you’ve written a mash-up that hasn’t taken off...
➡️ If you
want a better return on your Facebook ads...
Then understanding this concept will help you greatly.
You’ll have a framework, a strategy, to use and feel more confident in your advertising.
I’ll tell you more about it as it gets nearer to the launch, but for now, if you’d like to be beta tester, just stick your hand up (or reply to this email, because I can’t actually see your hand).
The course is very definitely an MPV - a minimum viable product - my video editing skills are far from top-notch, and the power point slides
are not that jazzy, but I can pretty much guarantee that no one else in the indie author industry is teaching this stuff.
So whaddya say? Fancy being a beta tester for me?
Angie. 👀
