Every day I say the same things to my kids…
‘Take your plate to the kitchen, please’.... ’remember to brush your teeth’...’put your willy away’ (I say this last one mostly to Theo. He’s three. He got it out as we were leaving the
pub a few weeks ago. When do they grow out of it?)
I repeat myself so often and yet, whenever they hear my words, it’s like the first time I’ve said it.
They seem surprised that they have
to take their breakfast bowl to the kitchen every day. SHOCK HORROR.
And it reminds me that repetition is key to getting your message across and being memorable.
Trad publishers have been finding sneaky ways to improve memorability in their book descriptions.
In this week’s blurb breakdown, you can see it in action.

Even if you’re not writing a memoir, it’s a handy tactic to have up your sleeve.
Hope it helps.

P.S I’m plotting something crazy. I’ll need a few guinea pigs to test something out with. It doesn't involve money, or work from your end.
Keep your eye out for a personal invite to take part later this week.
If you spot any typos or run on sentences or dangling thingamies, please be kind and let it slide. Save your energy for something better.
