Friday’s email, if you recall, was all about how the ability to come up with ideas
is your biggest commodity.
“Idea’s are everywhere,” apparently. And yet they seem to evade so many.
The answer, I feel, is best told with an analogy.

Imagine for a moment that, on her death, your Great Aunt Nellie bequeathed to you a pale blue box.
Inside the box was a delicate gold watch
with a pearlescent face. It reminded you of her. So you kept it safe in a dresser.
The years roll by.
You move house.
You get a new job.
You move again.
You get new furniture.
You get a dog.
You have a kid.
Then one day, you
see a TV show about a little gold watch being sold at auction. It sparks the memory of your Great Aunt Nellie and the watch in the little blue case.
So you go looking for it.
You search your cupboards.
You search in dusty boxes in the attic.
You look through every drawer, scattering the contents then piling them back again.
You look in the same
places over and over again...
Maybe you missed it…
Until…
Hiding in an old brown suitcase at the back of your closet…
You find it.
The same little blue box was just waiting for you.
For all those years.
It waited for you find
it.

...
So the point I want to make is that, yes, ideas are everywhere but if you want to find them you have to go looking for them.
I'll say it again...
YOU have to decide to
look for them.
A common reason
people say they don’t email their list more often is because they don’t know what to write.
But selling to people who're already sold on you is way easier than finding new readers to sell to.
So if you’re stuck for ideas for your emails.
Keep opening boxes.
Keep looking.
You'll find one.
